About the Artist....................

Marsha Phillips is a native Fire Islander and self-taught painter who began painting to fulfill a desire to capture scenes of solitude and natural beauty abundant on Fire Island.  She paints in all mediums using that which she feels best lends itself to her subject.

Having painted and shown her works across Fire Island's several communities for many years, she has only recently began to exhibit her art on the mainland side of the Great South Bay.

During 1999 Marsha exhibited offerings at the Village Art Club of Rockville centre, The Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts Cultural center in West Babylon,  Brookhaven Arts and Humanities Council in Farmingville,  The North Shore Art Guild at Brookhaven Art Cultural Center,   "Gallery on the Hill,"  the Smithtown Township Arts Council, and at Mill's Pond House in St. James.

Ms. Phillips is a member of the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts,  Brookhaven Arts and Humanities Council, Smithtown Township Arts, and the Art League of Long Island.

"Though Fire Island is a world renown summer vacation spot visited by thousands every year,  few people have witnessed its lovely beaches and quaint communities in their lonely winter finery, these are the images I strive most to capture."

Most of her art is held in private collections often displayed to the public. Business along Main Street Babylon and Bay Shore often proudly show their collections.

Marsha has become very reclusive after the death of her parents.  Our webmaster can contact her if you need to get in touch. Otherwise, we offer no contact info.
